UMBAI: As live concerts bounce back from the pandemic, Indo-jazz fusion supergroup Shakti is about to sweep music lovers off their feet in a ‘east-meets-west musical confluence’ at the start of the new year.
Shakti will feature two surviving members of the original line-up — British jazz guitarist John McLaughlin and tabla whiz Zakir Hussain — flanked by kanjira player V. Selvaganesh, vocalist Shankar Mahadevan and violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan when they take centrestage in Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi in January 2023 for what is meant to be their ‘50th Anniversary World Tour’.
